What We Fabricate

Everything we sell is built in our own Brooklyn shop and installed by our own crew. Nothing is drop-shipped from a catalog, so a door, stair or enclosure is cut to the opening we measured in the field rather than to a stock size. Our work falls into four families.

Stairs, Railings & Fencing

We fabricate steel and iron staircases for both sides of the building envelope. Inside, that means closed-tread diamond plate and stair-pan staircases with landings and pipe railings for basements, mechanical rooms and mezzanines. Outside, it means outdoor steel staircases with galvanized grating treads, switchback and egress runs, and double-landing stairs built for weather. Railings are part of the same trade: we build pipe and staircase railings, parapet roof railings for roof edges and setbacks, and commercial bar and 8-foot steel fencing and gates for yards, lots and property lines.

Doors, Hatches & Cellar Access

Sidewalk cellar and basement access doors are the line we are best known for in New York City - flat and flush diamond plate doors, vented panels, oversized single-leaf doors over stair openings, and vault door gates. Where a cellar floods or sits below grade, we build waterproof bulkhead cellar doors and Ultra Model raised waterproof doors with welded curbs and gasketed leaves that lift the opening above the sidewalk. When a heavy door has to open one-handed all day at a restaurant or storefront, the hydraulic Ez Lift cellar door system does it in a single motion and locks tamper-resistant. We also fabricate utility and valve-room doors, roof hatches, and expanded-metal safety screens that sit under a hatch so the opening is never left unguarded.

Expanded Metal & Streetscape Mesh

We fabricate expanded metal and welded steel mesh for security cages, partitions, window guards, vent covers, and safety screens that protect basement openings, mechanical rooms, and HVAC equipment. The same open metal fabric is used for tree pit guards and streetscape frames where strength and visibility matter. Expanded metal is a natural complement to cellar doors and window guards: it is stronger than wire mesh, allows airflow, and gives a clear view through the panel while keeping the space secure.

Structural Steel & Alterations

Heavy structural work runs through our structural steel fabrication line - columns, beams, lintels, and mezzanines - along with modifications and repairs to steel that is already in place. We also build floor and stair opening closures, floor reinforcing, and steel plate installations for occupied buildings that cannot stop operating while the work happens.

Garbage Bin Enclosures

NYC set-out rules pushed bins off the sidewalk, and our steel garbage bin enclosures are built for that. The Economaster outdoor enclosure is our workhorse for brownstones, small apartment buildings and areaways, sized to the bins the building actually uses. For high-volume properties we build heavy-duty commercial and industrial enclosures in longer runs with reinforced framing and lids that hold up to daily use. Both are rodent-proof: tight tolerances, no gnaw gaps, and latching that keeps the lid shut between pickups.

Roof, Ladders & Structural Steel

On rooftops and in mechanical spaces we build the steel that everything else stands on: HVAC roof dunnage and equipment bases in pocketed, floating and through-roof configurations, catwalks and raised platforms over pipe runs, and galvanized grating walkways and infill panels. Access is covered by fixed roof access ladders, ladders with welded safety cages built to code height as one assembly, and steep-pitch ships ladders for tight pits and hatches. Heavier work runs through our structural steel fabrication line - columns, beams, lintels and mezzanines - along with modifications and repairs to steel that is already in place, plus security doors and window guards and the one-off custom iron works that do not fit a category.
